Waiting [James Young]

Waiting
For my life to begin
Can't you see the shape I'm in?
Is it ever gonna start
So that I can play my part?

Can't hold on another day
Will I always be just waiting?
Anyway I cannot lose
It's up to me

No more waiting, no more waiting
Just to open my eyes
No more waiting, no more waiting
Now I know I can fly
No more, no more waiting
I could change the world,

Why am I still waiting?

Better take a chance and fall
Than to take no chance at all
I must make a move myself
Or get left here on the shelf

Nothing venture, nothing gained
Honest try is not in vain
No more waiting, time to go
Out of my way

No more waiting, no more waiting
Come on, roll on the day
No more waiting, no more waiting
I have so much to say
No more, no more waiting
I will feel no pain
No more, no more waiting
I could change the world

And I will

Interpretation

I've been waiting for something good to happen in my life, just moving through life aimlessly.  I need to take some risks and assume control over my own life.  I can reach my dreams and make a difference.

JY: "I was attracted to the brooding Eastern European feel of the song. Ordinarily, I don't relate as well to ballads -- but this one touched me. I also wanted to stretch out on the record and show people I'm more than the guy who wrote hard rock songs for each Styx album."
