Brave Hearts [Glen Burtnik]
Written by Glen Burtnick, Bob Miller
Lead Vocals by Glen Burtnick
The air is thick with daylight dies
Electric headlights rule the skies
The steely lion finds its place
As rainbow colors line its face
Freedom fighters walk their way
Crashing through the turnstiles
Heading for tomorrow
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Brave hearts beat in the night
Whoa-oh-oh
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Jungle calling for me
The heat is off, your skin is tense
The spark of leather clouds your sense
The 45s are on the rise
With streaks of lightning in your eyes
You're unaware of yesterday
Just working on a plan to make it to tomorrow
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Brave hearts beat in the night
Whoa-oh-oh
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Jungle calling for me
Oh
Crossing over gilded spears
Toying with your secret fears
Sweeping all the dream grass up in a line
Gets you through this jungle
Its blowing through your heart like wine
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Jungle calling for me
Yeah
Oh
Brave hearts
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Brave hearts beat to the jungle's city rhythm
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Interpretation
Living in the city, daylight gives way to electric lights you can see looking down from an airplane (or even the International Space Station). Just like the freedom fighters crashing through the underbrush in the jungles of Central America, there are workers crashing through the turnstiles in the subways and office buildings of the city. People in the city are bravely making their way through life, just like people braving the dangers of living in a jungle.
