Awake the Giant [Lawrence Gowan]

Awake The Giant
Written by Lawrence Gowan

Born of pride and frustration
Under heavy sedation
Fought to be realistic
Everyone pessimistic
Filled with anger and regret
That's how I was till I met you

Trapped beneath indignation
Thirst for retaliation
Bit the hand of the feeder
Never trusted the leader
Locked and held a cold sweat
That's how I was till I met you

But you awake the giant
But you awake the giant
But you awake the giant
The giant in me

Tossed and turned is the dreamer
Hard to find the redeemer
Bought and sold by my old friends
Cast admit to a dead end
Stamped and marked as a bad debt
That's how I was till I met you

But you awake the giant
But you awake the giant
But you awake the giant
The giant in me

And in that dying haze
Where the giant lay inside me
Waiting to rise
You found a willing heart
And you made it start to break free
And you moved me

But you awake the giant (Elevate my fate)
But you awake the giant (I'm going to make the grade)
But you awake the giant (You can come and pull this weight in me, yeah)

But you awake the giant (Elevate my fate)
But you awake the giant (I'm going to make the grade)
But you awake the giant (You can pull this weight in me, yeah)

But you awake the giant
But you awake the giant
But you awake the giant (You can pull this weight in me, yeah)

But you awake the giant (Elevate my fate)
But you awake the giant (I'm going to make the grade)
But you awake the giant (You can pull this weight in me, yeah)

Interpretation

When I met you, my life changed.  I used to be miserable, but "you awake the giant in me."  There was a dreamer inside me that was suppressed by my pride and frustration, beat down by my so-called friends, and just needing someone to love me.
