Walls Came Down [Glen Burtnik]

Look what they did to him, they changed his name with a painted grin
Just a boy trapped in a man’s body
Well he was groomed so carefully with their manufactured mystery
Well there’s mystique and there’s mistake-and now he’s history

And the walls came down, and it all caved in, and the bottom dropped
right out

Molly got married in Jersey City
Boy, I was there and she sure looked pretty
But I knew her when, and man it’s a pity
Well maybe it’s true what they say, that he’s bored with her now and
she’s moved away
And if I’m real lucky that marriage has seen it’s day

And the walls came down, and it all cave in, and the bottom dropped
right out
‘Cos it all comes back
And it all goes round
And the walls they all came down

And I love it when it all crashes down
I love to watch and listen to the sound
The sound of Armageddon, the sound of the bitter end

The bully walks in with his boxing gloves on
Throwing his weight-but he’s been putting it on
And he’s gonna get his ‘cos he’s fat and it won’t take long

And the walls came down, and it all cave in, and the bottom dropped
right out
‘Cos it all comes back
And it all goes round
And the walls they all came down

We all cracked up, and we all fell down, and the walls they all, they
all came down

Interpretation

Whether it's a young heart-throb who's quickly forgotten, a pretty girl who got married to a guy from the big city, or a boxer who can only stay on top so long, the walls will come down.
