The Bigger They Are The Harder They Fall [James Young]

The Bigger They Are, The Harder They Fall
Written by J.Y. - Steven A. Jones

You're such a big tough man about town
You're gonna lose your crown
You're such a big star, in your mind
I've seen the other side
You're such a polished man of the world
You think the swine are after your pearls
Climb to the top on the backs of your friends
They won't be 'round when your fantasy ends, because

The bigger they are, the harder they fall
The bigger they are big shot
Somewhere down the line you're gonna pay for it all
And the tab is more than you've got

You're such a big noise out on the street
Pound on your chest like the king of the beasts
You play the big wheel, you play the boss
Wait till you feel the cost of it all

The bigger they are, the harder they fall
The bigger that final drop
When you hit the ground, I'll still be standing tall
And I won't be followin' you punk

Don't you know that when all is said and done
You will be such a lonely one
Do you want to be lonely now, lonely now?

You're such a big guy, you're such a pal
Come on and take just one more step, big fella
The biggest fish in an empty pond
Show me which face you've been putting on
You've got that big top, circus smile
It doesn't mask your lack of style
You're gonna stumble, I think you'll trip
You'll hear the cheers as you lose your grip, you know

The bigger they are, the harder they fall
The bigger they are you'll see
I won't be waiting around to accept your call
So don't bother dialin' me

The bigger they are, the harder they fall
The greater velocity
You're walkin' now but I'll be watchin' you crawl
But don't bother crawlin' to me

The bigger they are, the harder they fall
The longer that final dive
Your plane is flyin' high, but you're bound to stall
And you might not survive, alive

The bigger they are, the harder they fall
Terminal velocity

Interpretation

You might be big, powerful, popular, or whatever, but eventually you will be cut down to size and find yourself alone, and no one will want to help you.

JY: "We have all seen people come and go in the entertainment business, in the world of politics, and in sports. There's a lesson here for all of us, myself included. It's not good to take yourself too seriously."
