I gotta work, I gotta play
I'm livin' here in the U.S. of A.
Home of the big, land of the free
All power to technology, we got

Production lines, the ways & means
The heavy juice to run the big machines, and
We got the brains, we got the brawn
So make it fast, make it loud
Don't stop now please turn me on
Keep building more & more
Fill up my hardware store with the things I need
I'm chargin' up my batteries for my

Toys, Toys, Toys for American boys
I can't get enough of my
Toys, Toys, Toys for American boys

Give me machine guns
Missiles and tanks
Numbered accounts in a few Swiss banks
We'll clear up your problems
In a jiffy
We get caught we'll just take the Fifth

Please turn me loose
Keep building more & more
Fill up my hardware store with the things I need
I'm chargin' up my batteries for my

Toys, Toys, Toys for American boys

Interpretation

All kids love toys.  Grown men are like little boys, except the toys are bigger, more expensive, and sometimes more lethal.  American men, especially, just want more money to buy more toys.

Notice the reference to Swiss banks, which historically have been where money could be safely deposited with no questions asked.  Some men might keep some of their money away from their wife or girlfriend, and if caught plead the Fifth, a reference to the right to refuse to testify against yourself in a court of law.

JY: "It was really great to have the only guy I know with a radio controlled model blimp (Styx drummer John Panozzo) play on this one. No, this is not the marching song of the American Nazi Party. This song is intended to be taken in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way, as you can tell from the second verse. Why Reagan bombed Libya while he was trading arms for hostages with Iran is beyond me."
