Get It While You Can [Lawrence Gowan]

Get It While You Can
Written by Lawrence Gowan, Eddie Schwartz

Time waits for no one and neither will she
Takes a man to admit that he finally sees
Love's a much too precious thing to waste
And this world can be a lonely place

It don't come easy, reach out with both hands
Don't be scared boy, stand up like man
It's love she's giving, better get it
Get it while you can

She can see by your eyes that you're in doubt
So before it's too late, better work this thing out
Don't look back in 20 years and say
"Why did I ever let you slip away"

It don't come easy, reach out with both hands
Don't be scared boy, stand up like man
It's love she's giving, better get it
Get it while you can

Every man must take the bad with the good
And find a love to make him, all that he could
Stop denying that she's everything you need

Love's a much too precious thing to waste
And this world can be a lonely place

It don't come easy, reach out with both hands
Don't be scared boy, stand up like man
It's love she's giving, better get it
Get it while you can

Interpretation

"Love's a much too precious thing to waste."  It takes a real man to admit that. Don't wait, whether it's putting off marriage or not investing in making your marriage work. She can see the doubt and indecision in your eyes.  You have to take the bad with the good. If you let this slip away now, you will look back later and regret missing out on a life together with someone you love.  Don't be scared. Be a man and "get it while you can."
