Once upon a time in another jungle
Everyone jumped when they heard your name
Everything was done just to try and please you
Cause everywhere you looked it was all your game
But look around and see your world today
All the rules have changed
And you got lost along the way

And now you're down with the common pigeon
There's nothing special about you
You had it all but you let it fall
Now we'll get on better without you
So run along before I get my gun...
Pigeon

Remember when you were young and mighty
That wasn't so many years ago
Swooping down like an awesome eagle
On an unsuspecting world below
And I was just an ordinary boy
Looking up with wide-eyed wonder
At the giants you could destroy

And now you're down with the common pigeon
There's nothing special about you
You had it all but you let it fall
Now we'll get on better without you
So run along before I get my gun...
Pigeon

Isn't it ironic how the tables turned
You should've watched who you were stepping on
Cause now you're bully days are just a memory
You better stop tempting me
Ya move on, move on, move on
You pigeon

And now you're down with the common pigeon
There's nothing special about you
You had it all but you let it fall
Now we'll get on better without you
So run along before I get my gun...
Pigeon

Interpretation

Once a mighty predatory dinosaur, perhaps a feared velociraptor or one of their larger kin are believed have evolved into birds. The irony of being a lowly pigeon in a modern city, living off the scraps of the humans, is tremendous.
