Put It Where the Love Don't Shine [Lawrence Gowan]

Put It Where The Love Don't Shine

Nasty things are growing in the garden
Evil weeds are choking out the light
But I ain't gonna shiver in the darkness
Running out of luck,
Running out of time
Running out of fight

Gonna get back to the source
Take this wondrous force
And put it where the love don't shine
Love is like a flower
With a million watts of power

Put it where the love don't shine
Anywhere the love don't
Put it where the love don't shine

I've seen the serpent creeping on his belly
Laughin' 'bout all the joy he stole
Time to chase him back into his pit now
Into his hole
Into his hole
Reclaim my soul

Gonna get back to the source
Take this wondrous force
And put it where the love don't shine
Love is like a flower
With a million watts of power

Put it where the love don't shine
Anywhere the love don't
Put it where the love don't shine

Interpretation

Like weeds in a garden, evil chokes out the light of goodness.  Another analogy is the the serpent in the Garden of Eden, crawling on his belly after stealing joy through deception, laughing at people's struggles in life.  I need to chase him back to the pit and get back my soul.  I want to put the evil into the darkness where love doesn't reach, far away from me.
