Cry [Glen Burtnik]

Jagged glass in your window pane
Shatter dreams ain't shelter from the rain
And it's a cold wind that you feel

You say it ain't shit for you
And what comes out come up again too
But talking tough don't make it real

Baby, cry, you can't hold back forever
Cause it is time you let you tears come through
Baby, cry, if crying makes it better
Then, baby, cry the way I once cried for you

Waking up with your pillow streaked in misery
The words that you can't speak
Your crying can set them free

I don't know what you think you need
But don't we both know what it's like to bleed
Just break apart these walls of stone

Baby, cry

Waking up with your pillow streaked in misery (oh)
The words that you can't speak
Your crying can set them free

Now I don't know what you think you need
But don't we both know what it's like to bleed
Just break apart these walls of stone

And baby, cry, you can't hold back forever
Cause it is time you let you tears come through
Then baby, cry
Baby, cry the way I once cried for you
Baby, cry the way I once cried for you

Interpretation

If you are feeling bad, it's OK to cry. You can't always express your feelings any other way. It's not good to hold it in. Crying is sometimes the only way to feel better.  Shedding tears helps to release excess stress hormones, and it also triggers the release of endorphins and oxytocin which helps your mood and can help you rest.
