Strong enough

Are you strong enough to be my brother
Been so hard on dear, sweet mother
Are you strong enough
Are you strong enough

You've been gone so long
You became another
Poor lost soul living undercover
Are you strong enough
Oh, are you strong enough

You're a stray cat scratching on the back door screen
Ain't no wonder how you got so mean
Ooh, ooh ooh ooh, yeah

Sleepin' off your sins
We missed you on Sunday
Preacher said there'll be a reckoning one day
Sure enough
Have mercy, sure enough

Simple is the truth
The devil's in the details
Spend your youth
Now its up for resale
Sure enough
Oh, sure enough

You're a stray cat scratching on the back door screen
Ain't no wonder how you got so mean
Ooh, so damn mean

Hustlin' guys on the Jackson Queen
Shoe shell mama shakin' everything
Slippin' out the back so you won't be seen
It's a dead man's dream
Are you sure you're strong enough
(Strong enough)
Strong enough

When you float on lies, don't walk on water
Your lonely cries will pull you under
No one's strong enough
When it gets that tough

Well you're strong enough to be my brother
Side by side, let's help one another
‘Cause you're strong enough
Yeah you know you're strong enough

Old man chokers got the cat by the tail
A ship in a bottle will never set sail
Oh, they're going no where

Hustlin' guys on the Jackson Queen
Shoe shell mama shakin' everything
Slippin' out the back so you won't be seen
It's a dead man's dream
Are you sure you're strong enough
(Strong enough)
Strong enough

(Strong enough)
Strong enough
(Strong enough)
(Strong enough)

When you float on lies
Your lonely cries will pull you under
No ones' strong enough
When it gets that tough
Yeah, you know you're strong enough
Strong enough

Interpretation

Life can be tough, but you're my brother and I know you're strong enough to stand with me and together we can overcome life's difficulties. It was hard on our mother when you left home to live a life of sin.  It was sure to come back to haunt you, but you're strong enough to come back and redeem yourself.
