Interpretation

Anyone that has travelled by air much can probably relate to this song. Flights get delayed for various reasons, whether it is because the crew is late because their orecious flight was late, mechanical issues  or weather. 

Trying to reach the airline or your travel agent on your cell phone to book another flight, only to get a busy signal or be pit on hold adds to the frustration.

You don't want to have to take the airline's offer of staying overnight in a hotel and catching a morning flight. You've done that  and the hotel is barely OK  while you spend another night away from your wife and kids.

You manage to get on the last flight of the night.  Your checked bags might not make it to your new flight, but since you're going home  that's OK, as they will arrive the next day. You call to let your wife know you will be late  asking her to kiss your daughter goodnight since you won't be back before she goes to bed.

You're tired and hungry, but the airport restaurants are already closed, as are the bars, but at least there is a vending machine. To make things worse, your phone has a weak signal  and the battery is low.l, so you look for a charging station.

When you've been away for long  all you want to do is get home and sleep in your own bed with your wife.
