Your Saving Grace

Flying into solitude
Slowly losing altitude
When my engine stalled
And I began to fall

Suddenly I couldn't steer
No parachute or landing gear
Gone in the dead of night
So I said my prayers and suddenly I saw a light

Shining in the clouds above
Showing me a kind of love
That I'd never known
And I wonder how my heart could ever thank you

You saved me
When I was barely breathing
You saved me
When I was lost in space
And you healed me
Where would I be without you
'Cause you raised mе up by

The light of your saving grace
Your saving grace
Thе light of your saving grace
Your saving grace

And I can't explain
Even in the pouring rain
How your guiding hand
Helped me safely land

So I'm standing here
Having shed my final tear
Knowing that I'm letting go
To all the things I realize I can't control

And I will survive
Certain that to be alive
Is all that we know
And I don't know how my heart could ever thank you

You saved me
When I was barely breathing
You saved me
With the warmth of your embrace
And you healed me
Where would I be without you
'Cause you raised me up by

The light of your saving grace
Your saving grace
The light of your saving grace
Your saving grace

Your saving grace
The light, the light of your saving grace
Your saving grace
Your saving grace
The light of your saving grace

Your saving grace

Interpretation

My life was a disaster, like a pilot flying a plane solo when the engine fails, with nowhere to land, no landing gear, and no parachute. I said a prayer, and like a light shining from the clouds, your love shone on me in a way I had never experienced, and I was saved. You brought me back from the brink of death, found me lost in the expanse of outer space, and you healed me. I can't explain how, but you helped me land the plane safely, getting my life together and giving it meaning. So I'm letting go of things I can't control, which is a huge weight off my shoulders. My heart is suddenly free of burdens and able to love. I finally feel alive. Thank you.

This could be a song from a man whose life came together when he met the woman who is his soulmate, and suddenly life had meaning and purpose. It could also be the testimony of anyone who has gone from the depths of despair, disillusionment and shame to the height of freedom, purpose, and love, through the grace shown by God through the gift of reconciliation and eternal life that is the core of the gospel message of the Christian faith.
