Blue Eyed Raven
I found her picture, it was a good one
It was in a book I never finished reading
There she was smiling like a mother's angel
Looked a lot like how she smiled as we were meeting
Chills ran up and down my spine
Now I can't get her off my mind
Gypsy woman cast your spell
Now I can tell I'll never be free
I took a road trip, out to the country
Off a little highway across the farm roads
On a cold day
That's when I saw her, there with her family
Looked to me like they were finishing their work day
Our eyes met, she locked me in her gaze
Time stopped, my mind was in a haze
Gypsy woman cast your spell
I knew damn well I'd never be free
Despite the space and time
She's dancing in my mind
Among the world that I left behind
That night I said goodbye
Her name was Melina, this blue eyed raven
She held the key to all this love
I had been saving
Though they were leaving
She said "come join us"
"You know you only live life once
Why not enjoy this?"
Gypsy woman cast your spell
I knew damn well I'd never be free
Gypsy woman cast your spell now
I can tell I'll never be free
Despite the space and time
She's dancing in my mind
Among the world that I left behind
That night I said goodbye
Chills ran up and down my spine
Now I can't get her off my mind
Gypsy woman cast your spell
Now I can tell I'll never be free
Gypsy woman cast your spell
Now I can tell I'll never be free
Gypsy woman cast your spell
Now I can tell I'll never be free
Interpretation
I once met a beautiful woman traveling with a band of gypsies. She had blue eyes and black hair with a beautiful smile. I was captivated when I first laid eyes on her, and she even invited me to come with them when it was time to move on, but I stayed. The memory was awakened when I found her picture in an old book I had never finished. Just like that book, I never finished our story together. Now I can't get her out of my mind, remembering how she danced and what might have been.
