Sleeping Beauty [The Falling Wallendas featuring Todd Sucherman]

Aggie wants to stay
Where she is
She doesn't look too well
In the brimstone and violet

Found a piece of fruit
In a cabinet
Aggie you want some
I'll trade you for a cigarette

And if I
And if I
And if I had my way
I'd take you
I'd take you
I'd take you to another day

Aggie please get up
From the broken glass
I'm wrapped in her coat
And I'm starting to float

And if I
And if I
And if I had my way
I'd take you
I'd take you
I'd take you to another day
Another day
Another day

You used to say to me
We're like two drops of mercury
I threw my bottle at you
But you wouldn't come to

And if I
And if I
And if I had my way
I'd take you
I'd take you
I'd take you to another day
Another day
Another day

Interpretation

Aggie was probably passed out drunk on the floor (see the lyrics to Agatha). He threw a bottle at her in frustration, trying to wake her up, and it shattered on the floor next to her. Now she is awake but refuses to get up. He offers her some fruit, but she won't take it. Still, he puts her coat around his shoulders just to feel close to her, floating away mentally, imagining things better. In a more sober moment, she had pointed out that they are like two drops of mercury, that if combined to a single drop will increase in temperature, and two drops are enough to cause sever brain damage if it touches a person's skin.  In the same way, their relationship is toxic.
